Careless Driving: Definition
Careless driving can include a wide range of poor driving behaviours but is generally defined as driving your vehicle without due care and attention, or without reasonable consideration for others on the highway. Careless driving charges can relate to speeding, failing to yield, running traffic signs, tailgating, unsafe lane changes, and being distracted. The most common situation in which officers will charge someone with careless driving is a traffic accident. Penalties for careless driving include fines, demerit points, license suspension, and potentially jail time.
